July 19, 2022 Zoom Classroom Workshop: 6:30-9:30 PM Alaska Time. The Photography Essentials Workshop is designed for aspiring photographers who desire to get comfortable with the fundamentals of photography. Come join us and start capturing imagery with confidence in manual mode! Aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. Aperture priority, shutter priority, and manual. You will learn the intricacies of these topics and more.

July 21, 2022 Field Workshop: The Field Workshop begins at 6:30 PM in a field location in the Anchorage area. The group will meet at a pre-determined location to photograph landscapes and/or wildlife, to build on skills learned during the classroom portion. Ground transportation will not be provided, so participants are encouraged to carpool as much as practical — the exact location will be determined during the classroom workshop. Anticipate shooting through about 8:30 PM.

Payment: Full payment is due up front to secure your seat.

Cancellation Policy: If you must cancel participation in the workshop, a full refund (less 5% fee) is available if cancellation is made 30+ days prior to the workshop. Cancellations received less than 30 days prior to workshop will forfeit all fees; however Southwest Secrets may choose at its discretion to apply some of the amount paid to a future workshop, particularly if we are able to fill your seat.

Workshop Cancellation: In the rare event the workshop must be cancelled (such as due to building logistics or workshop host travel problems), you will receive the option of a 100% refund or a credit with Wilderness Photo Workshops or Southwest Secrets for a future workshop.

Classroom Workshop Feature:
“Moments in Nature”

A presentation of select adventures Chad experienced while capturing landscapes and wildlife imagery. Scenes caught in lightning storms, on cliff ledges, and during face-to-face encounters with bears are among the highlights. The focus of the presentation is to share nature experiences and educate about lessons-learned.

Photography Instruction

Chad will teach you the fundamentals of photography to help you feel comfortable in using manual mode: ISO, shutter speed, aperture. Feel confident in understanding the balanced use of each. Often heard is the saying that “photography is not about capturing an image, it is about making an image.” By focusing on understanding the fundamentals of light, composition, and camera settings, you will become confident with your photography skills.
